Chronoswiss has rolled out the latest version of their Flying Grand Regulator Skeleton, this one in a limited edition of just 30 pieces. The brand that specializes in regulator movements has been offering a skeletonized version of their Flying Grand Regulator ever since they first introduced it in 2014.
Housed in a 44-mm stainless steel case, with satin-brushed and polished finishes, composed of 21 parts, the Flying Grand Regulator Skeleton is one very special piece. The knurled finish on the sides and vintage-look onion crown, are iconic Chronoswiss hallmarks, add to the case’s distinctive look. The silvered, open worked dial, described accurately by Chronoswiss as “barely existent” offers an eye-catching look at the watch’s mechanical heart.
Inside the case is the manual-wound C.677S calibre, whose plates, bridges and gear wheels have been painstakingly skeletonized. The movement is equipped with a stop-seconds function, a hand-crafted Glucydur balance, Nivarox shock protection, and a swan’s neck fine adjustment system.
It stores a power reserve of 46 hours, beats at an 18,000-vph frequency, and boasts polishing on the screws and circular graining on the bridges. On the dial side, the multi-level construction features funnel-type sub dials for the hours and seconds; classical blued “poire Stuart” hands sweep over the main dial and sub dials to indicate the hours, minutes, and seconds.
An additional, smaller red minutes hand supplementing the large central minutes hand, allowing legible reading of the area of the minutes scale obscured by its overlap with the hours sub dial.
The Chronoswiss Flying Grand Regulator Skeleton Limited Edition is mounted, via a patented screw-bar system, on a saddle brown hornback alligator leather strap with a steel folding clasp.
